PUNE : A beautiful city of culture and food

Updated: Jan 16

Pune it is said, is a retired man's paradise. It is home to NDA which trains the Indian Army ,Navy and Air Force. But having lived in Pune this is what I have to say about Pune.

Gone are the days when Pune was a quiet city. The hustle and bustle of city life are very much there .Pune brings out a historical feeling in me. Lall Mahal is where Shivaji spent his childhood days. So does shaniwar wada with its spread out grounds. The wada was the seat of the

Peshwas till 1818.

People and their culture are simple. But Joint families are a thing of the past. Old and new cultures have blend in each other. The navari sarees of Pune are famous . I cannot manage a saree but the ladies of Pune can manage a nine yard saree.

Sambhaji Park is worth am mention . I still meet my college friends and we talk about the days gone by.I love the calmeness of khadawala Dam as i enjoy a pinnic with my family . But gone as such days since the padamic has started.

Laxmi Road (shopping roads ) and malls exist side by side. Phoenix mall in Vimana Nagar the biggest in Pune seems to be a favorite with who ever comes to Pune. The reason is simple. It has all major brands in apparel , electronics grocery and luxury. With a food court you can spend the whole day there.

If you are a foodie ,Pune is the place to be. Fine dining and street food exist side by side.

Puran pori a Sweet delicacy of Pune is worth eating. Vada pav is liked by all Puneite

Balewadi High Street has about 10 restaurant in a line. Nawab ( Indian cuisine) Gong (Chinese cuisine) and McDonald (Burgers) all have mouth watering delicacy. The aroma from these restaurants will make you want to go inside .

Vashali is one of my most favorite restaurant of Pune . It is opposite Fergusson college and hence always full. I used to go there when I was in college. I get a feeling of nostalgic when I walk into the restaurant. But beware of the long line at its entrace. But it is worth the wait.

Pune will get another face lift soon. The metro. With the coming of metro Punetie wont have to wait at traffic signals.

I am glad to be a puneite
